Our Child 2

Watercolor
8 x 10 inches
unframed and unmatted, $50

This is one of four portraits painted from May to June of 2018 when our government took babies and children from their immigrant parents and housed them in cages. The numbers have since risen to 12,000. I am horrified by this inhumanity. I have worked with children and families my whole life and know the impact of such acts on children, their parents, and for their future generations. As a society we know this because we witness and have had experiences from Cambodia to Germany, from North Korea, to China and Japan. Here it is repeated again in present time. I hope to continue to capture the mixed emotions of trauma, disappointment, fear, waiting, and hope, in these portraits. They wait for us to DO something.
